Las Colinas was designed by Cabell B. Robinson, whose team have designed internationally renowned courses such as La Reserva, in Sotogrande; Finca Cortesín, on the Costa del Sol; Praia d’El Rey, in Portugal; and the Royal Golf d’Evian, in France. It was officially opened in 2010. Already it’s ranked in the top 100 courses in Europe, has hosted many PGA events and is earmarked for more qualifying school events in 2016.
There are numerous tee boxes, meaning that every level of golfer has a fair test. (I once watched Bradley Dredge, PGA professional tee off from the black tees into a proper Spanish gale. His second shot was also a driver, off the floor of the fairway, and his third, a putt that lipped out). For a more moderate hitter, off the first if the wind is like it was that day, it´s a drive, three iron, seven iron and a pair of putts for a hard battlin…
