Increase in numbers travelling to Spain in 2016.
Ireland’s love affair with travel to Spain appears to be going through the roof if the new figures from the Irish tourist Industry released this week are to be believed.
If you exclude trips to the Uk and Northern Ireland, Irish people will travel to Spain more than its next four favourite destinations, France, Italy, America, Portugal combined!! We Irish will fly to Spain almost 1.75 million times in 2016! If that sounds like a lot, it’s because it is and it’s getting bigger. The increase in trips booked to Spain this year is up 25% year on year – staggering!!
The reason why people come to the Costa Blanca, Costa Del Sol and other tourist hotspots in Spain are the weather, cheap cost of getting here and entertaining the family in Spain, ease of travel (thank you Ryanair) and political stability. Trip numbers to countries considered less safe have plummeted, due to travellers simply not feeling safe there.
It’s good news for those of us who own Spanish property especially in such holiday friendly areas such as Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca and La Zenia. 59% of people state that the reason they are coming here is purely holiday – We can see why and we hope to run into you on La Zenia beach later on this summer. Our main office is just 45 minutes drive south of Alicante airport and 20 minutes north of San Javier.
