Another must visit Spanish festival.
Pilar De La Horadada is a small town just 10 minutes down the N332 from La Zenia – The town is famous for the lovely people, booming fruit and veg trade, Lo Romero golf course and also the number of festivals they hold there.
Last weekend, April 28th to May 1st, 2016 the town hall of Pilar de la Horadada held the 5th annual Feria de Sevillanas – A tribute to all things from Seville. Its was very popular with locals and those from further afield. The streets were lined with Harley Davidson’s parked along side the horse carriages all of which travelled some distance to get here.
The festival itself, like all such events in this part of Spain was very kid friendly. Our boys had a lot of fun in the bouncy castle, getting their faces painted, watching the horses and it was all totally free. Even the coffee and refreshment on sale was super cheap – What a great lesson festival organisers in other parts of Ireland and the UK could learn – if you want to fill the place, don’t rip patrons off.
There were fireworks displays, wine tasting, (wasted on my pregnant wife) Flamenco ballet dancing, horse drawn carriages, Sevillana tapas and much entertainment for the whole family.
Well done to the people of Pilar de la Horadada who put the event together and we advise you put it on your must visit list in 2017.
