Cartagena Jazz Festival 1st to 22nd November 2014 – Comaskey Properties

Over the years, Cartagena has become one of the best known Jazz Festivals in Spain, rivalling not only neighbouring San Javier, but also some of the Festivals of the North of Spain. We know it is not far from many of your properties, even at La Zenia, it is only a 40 minute drive, and with the tickets priced very reasonably, we would recommend a special night out.

This year, Macy Gray, the US soul star is singing on Saturday 1st November at the Nuevo Teatro Circo. It begins at 21.30 pm and tickets cost 20€ through the Box Office or Ticketmaster.
The Jazz Festival is on for a few weeks, and the next performance after Macy Gray on the 1st is the 6th November when Gregory Porter performs with a full orchestra at the Auditorio El Batel. He is a grammy winning jazz vocalist and songwriter. The concert starts at 21.30pm and costs 18€,  Following this, on the 7th at the same venue is a Spanish and English double-bill, Chano Dominguez and Niño Josele, who perform on piano and guitar. Josele is one of the most talented flamenco guitarists in the world. They are joined by Zara McFarlane, hearalded as one of the fine new British Jazz singers, who draws heavily on her Jamaican roots using reggae influences. This concert starts at 21.30pm and costs 15€. 8th November there is another double-bill at the Auditorio El Batel, the instrumental jazz band from Texas, Snarky Puppy (great name!), followed by a jazz and classical saxophonist, Branford Marsalis. Tickets are 18€ and it starts at 21.30pm.

The next concert in this great line-up is the 13th November and is an evening of samba, performed by Jacques and Paula Moelenbaum . Tickets are 15€ and it starts at 21.30 pm at the Nuevo Teatro Circo in Cartagena.  14th November sees the Best Female Vocalist of the Year at the British Blues Awards, Jo Harman, and also Ali Di Meola, a master guitarist. This is at Auditoriio El Batel, 18€ and starts at 21.30pm.

The 15th November sees American Indie folk and British Soul at the Nuevo Teatro Circo with Hannah Williams and the Tastemakers and Cat Power for 20€ starting at 21.30pm also. On the 21st, at the same venue, long-standing group, Incognito, perform their latest album in the style of British acid jazz. (15€ at 21.30pm).

Lastly, on the 22nd November, Melanie de Basio, a renowned Belgian flautist with an outstanding voice, then Silvia Pérez Cruz,a Spanish Jazz folk singer, performs with Raul Férnandez Míro. This evening costs 18€ and starts at 21.30pm.
