Rio Safari Park, Elche, Costa Blanca – Comaskey Properties

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon yesterday at the Rio Safari, Elche – on the road between Alicante and La Zenia.

It’s not cheap, maybe 50 euro for a family of four but it’s totally worth it. We got some discount vouchers from Yvonne at La Zenia travel, next door to our office which was a bonus.
You can literally spend the whole day there – we had a picnic, took the train around the site and walked our legs off. They’ve got the usual stuff; The giant Giraffe was a bit hit for my boys, but the monkey section too was very popular – the snakes not so much. There was a sea world style show with sea lions which lasted for half an hour and had lots of splashes for the kids. The best part actually was the mini petting zoo, with sheep, goats and cows – quite the change from the jaguars and tigers just a couple of hundred meters away.

Horse rides cost only 3 euro for the kids for five minutes and there is a huge kids castle outside the main entrance that is totally free for the kids.

Rio Safari Elche is just a 30 minute drive from La Zenia and we absolutely recommend it as a break from the Spanish beach and even more especially on these warm Autumn afternoons.
