Las Colinas Golf and Country Club
Las Colinas Golf Resort and Country Club is an exclusive residential community located on the southern Costa Blanca just 45 minutes south of Alicante and the airport and just 20 minutes north of Murcia San Javier airport, so accessibility could not be easier. It is the perfect spot to escape to on holiday, or to live. The resort is set in an area of natural beauty and is mostly protected land and is surrounded by orange, lemon and olive groves. The connections to the golf course are excellent, whether by air (Alicante 74km, Murcia 63km, train (stations 20 and 30km away) or road (from Madrid 400km taking motorway all the way or easy south and north connections by motorway).
The course is in a valley between hills high enough to give it privacy and isolate it from its surrounding area, and has just been shortlisted for the 2014 International Hotel & Property Awards in the Golf Resort category.
“One of the main concerns that buyers have is the quality of the golf,” says director Martin Eastgate. “There are many other courses in the area, which is good, but we are a cut above the others. We are now ranked number 72 in the top 100 European courses and considering that it takes between five and seven years to be established as a course we are doing very well to have reached this level already.” (Las Colinas opened in 2010).

In addition to its exclusive design, the defining characteristic of Las Colinas golf course is that it adapts to the special contours of the terrain to naturally blend into the surroundings.

He said that the course is surrounded by hills and set in a valley with good width fairways undulating greens and something unusual 5 different tee platforms; Black playing off 6376mtrs., White off 6033mtrs., Yellow off 5664mtrs., Blue off 5159mtrs., & Red playing off 4701mtrs., allowing one to play a different game whenever you visit, with a Par 71, 35 off the front 9 and 36 off the back.
He also said there are a number of holes on the course that remain memorable as below:-
“Las Colinas Hole 3. Great hole, Par 5 and 481mtrs.off the yellow tees, a left sided buggy path running the whole length of the hole keeps you playing to the right because the green cannot be seen from the tee but beware, to the right, you have numerous bunkers followed by a lake and a stream running into another lake that protects the green which has 3 bunkers to the back of the green but also beware, at 183 and 251mtrs from the tee, you will find bunkers on the left.
Las Colinas Hole 7. A very short Par 3 at 105mtrs off the yellows but…..the tee box is in the sky and you have to contend with trees protecting the green all round. Have you ever had a hole in 1?, well this a good one to do it on.
Las Colinas Hole 11. A great Par 5 at 536mtrs. off the Yellow tee and stroke index 1. Say no more, you will enjoy it.
Las Colinas Hole 14. Par 3 155mtrs. but very little fairway, a lake protecting the green to the right and the rear . Ah! It has a fairly dry pebble stream all across the front of the green which could see your ball going anywhere, also a small bunker to the left running into the lake and a large bunker to the right of the green. Great Hole!
Las Colinas Hole 15. Another Par 5 at 498mtrs. Beware, out of bounds all down the right and a lake protecting the green.”
