La Mariposa
La Mariposa is a small hotel and activity centre in the Sierra Espuña mountains, only just over an hour from La Zenia and for those of you in the Murcian region, much closer.
If you have not discovered this gem yet, let me tell you a little about it. Having spotted an offer on their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/espunaaventure for a mini mini activity break, perfect for any age with 2 activities and 1 nights stay, we decided to try it.
This included a:
• Guided walk (Easy-Medium) of 3 and a half hours
• 4 course Menú del Día
• An overnight stay, with breakfast
• Downhill mountain bike descent, gently cruising through a stunning natural park including mountain bike, safety equipment, transfer to the top of the Espuña, support vehicle, guide.
• Another 4 course Menú del Día.
This was all for 49€ per person!

They also have special offers from time to time like if you book 2 single quads, for 2 hours which includes 2×4 course meals – they will throw in a double en-suite room for 1 night, and 2x buffet continental breakfasts at no extra cost!
They have music nights, steak dinner nights and the accommodation is excellent with double rooms, twin rooms and family rooms available. They are well-appointed with ensuite bathrooms, warm and have UK television and tea and coffee facilities. The excellent restaurant serves delicious well-priced food and there is a small and cosy bar with a log burner.For Summer, there is a swimming pool and pleasant terrace.
Their activities include guided walks on two Mondays each month with lunch for 12 euros, , 4 x 4 Tours, Walking, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Paracending, buggy tours, river rafting, Golf, Climbing, Music Evenings and Special events, there is something to suit everyone. The hotel is in the villages of Gebas close to El Berro and they also have houses to rent in the area as well as apartments on an award winning golf resort.
