Financial Fairness at Last At La Liga – Comaskey Properties

It took many years of negotiations, strikes, a couple of clubs to go into bankruptcy and in the end a Royal Decree but for the first time ever, the 150 million euro of TV money will be split equally between all the football clubs in la Liga after this weeks historic announcement.
The previous system meant that Barcelona and Real Madrid were able to negotiate and keep all the TV proceeds from their La Liga matches. Now, half of all revenue is distributed equally with the remaining half distributed as prize money and rewards for league standing, popularity, capacity to generate funds through social relevance and other similar criteria. Yes, Barca and Real are still the two biggest earners but what a change this can mean in a league where 18 teams lost money in 2014. Guess which two made profits?
You can understand that the LFP president Javier Tebas, is quite excited, in a short statement he said ” A new league is born in Spain and a new story begins today for Spanish professional football”.
If local club Elche can just avoid the drop this year, it´ll mean a windfall for them too. All of this is good for the general Alicante area. The mid week home victory over Deportivo in a 6 pointer moved Elche 8 points clear of relegation and its almost time to say they are safe- Almost!
