5 (other) sport events you have to attend in Spain in 2013 – Comaskey Properties

5. Golf- Reale Open De Espana. We can’t recommend that you should shave been at the Ryder cup in Valderrama in 1997 so instead we´ll advise you to go and watch the Spanish Open golf instead. Last year one of the Molinari´s, Francesco we think (or was it the other one…. remember the hare and the tortoise?) won the open in Seville from a star studded field. The courses and the weather are perfect for golf in Spain but the 2013 event is still in doubt due the the lack of a major sponsorship deal. It will almost certainly be amalgamated with the Andalucian open and will be a race to Dubai event. Anyway, go and see it. Dates will be announced soon.

4. La Furia Roja are Spain´s national football team. They are currently the European champions (twice) and the world cup holders. If you don’t know that, you should´t be reading this post. The qualifiers for the 2014 World cup in Brazil have Spain in the same group as France and Finland. In order for fans all over the county to see the national side they change the host city for international games every time. For example when Scotland came here in late 2011 Alicante was the home stadium. The even better news is that there is always tickets available for Spain games and if you are a sports fan you must see the golden generation in the flesh at least once- perhaps the greatest football team of all time?

3. The Americas cup. Right up there with “you should have gone to the Ryder cup when it was in Spain”, you should have gone to the Americas cup in 2010. Valencia was the host city (albeit after months of court battles over the venue) and even though we don’t know when the spectacular event will return to Iberia, there are numerous smaller sailing events in Spain through out the year. We recommend you buy yourself a ticket on one of the small boats which sail out to sea to very much bring you the the centre of the action. Its true I didn’t understand what was going on last time (many of these boat trips include unlimited beer!) but it was exciting either way.

2. MotoGp in Jerez. Motor sport is big business in Spain- Weather, availability of flights, roadways- you can figure it out. Jerez traditionally attract a quarter of a million fans to watch their unique grand prix every year. Its usually the first one of the season and other cities do also host GP moto events such as Aragon, Valencia, Barcelona. We are reliably informed that Jerez has the best atmosphere of them all and its a great excuse to visit that beautiful part of Spain.

1. Champions League Semi final.
Ok, we could have picked Paddle, skiing in Granda, kayaking, Rugby in the Basque country, Kite flying (thats a sport!), handball or any one of a hundreds sports that Spain excels at. We´ve picked a champions league semi final for a couple of reasons as our sports event you must attend in 2013. The reasons are that at the time of going to post, there are still three teams left in the competition. Tickets are always available through the travel agency in La Zenia,  0034-966761492, and there is a real good chance the winner will come from Spain this year.

Yvonne can give you details and packages for individuals and groups for every sporting event in Spain and she will be very happy to help you with any of your questions.
